Should we take Pain killers or not.

With life becoming too fast, it is but natural that the body will take the beating in one form or another. And the most common form of the beating is the pain in the body. Blood is the lifeline of the body. It supplies different types of nutrients and minerals to different parts of the body, as per their requirement. It flows continuously through the body, day in and day out, 24*7. When there is some obstruction in its path and its flow is obstructed in one way or another, and in its effort to find the way, it causes pain in and to the body. So the instant reaction of a person is to take the painkiller. Instead of asking should we take pain killers or not, we simply, easily and very comfortably reach for them and swallow it without ever knowing the long term consequences of taking them. Of course, in the short term, the pain will be killed. Painkillers can be harmful when taken in excess, and especially when taken incorrectly. People generally have the habit of taking painkillers as OTC(Over the counter), which can be very dangerous and fatal.

Taking Painkillers have side effects which can be put as follows:

Taking Painkillers regularly have a very negative effect on your body, and in the long term may badly affect the health and fitness of the body. Though many, some of the major side effects of taking Pain killers can be put as follows:

1) NAUSEA. Nausea is a term generally used to describe a vomiting like feeling. Taking Painkillers can give you permanent vomiting like feeling, which may make you quite uncomfortable at times.

2)DEPRESSION A person fully dependent on Painkillers and taking them illogically may one day go into depression, and then he has to start taking drugs to overcome depression.

3)WEAK IMMUNITY A person wholly dependent on painkillers and other drugs, will definitely have a weak immune system because the body will not be able to produce WHITE BLOOD CELLS (WBC), so essential for fighting diseases.

4)INCREASED DOSAGES A person totally dependent on painkillers or other drugs, needs to increase its dosage or quantity in order to get the same effect. Meaning, he has to constantly increase the intake of such drugs/painkillers over time o get the same relief. This will take him to anxiety and depression, and if not controlled, will take him to the path of self-destruction, something like drugs do.

5)ADDICTION Regular taking of Painkillers makes you addicted to them, resulting in you taking them even if you don’t feel like taking it. It will be a psychological sort of thing, where you will take the painkillers even when you don’t have to. And once you are addicted, you need a strong character and a strong will to get out of it, which you should.

6)SLOWED BREATHING Continuous and unwanted use of Pain killers takes its toll on the respiratory system resulting in slowed breathing and creating other problems of the respiratory system. Slowed breathing will always keep him uncomfortable and in anxiety resulting in an uncomfortable and slow death.

7) Constipation One of the main problems of having painkillers on a regular basis is the body starts getting constipated. And as you know, all the diseases start taking root in the body when the stomach is not clear. So, to lead a life full of health and fitness, you have to say no to painkillers as a habit. It is not at all recommended to take pain killers but should be taken under emergency or unbearable pain.

Now the question is, should we take the pain killer or not. And the answer is strictly no for the first time pain. Try to bear it and go for a small walk, go in the fresh air, take deep breathes, do Pranayam, do whatever you feel like doing comfortably and that which puts you at ease. And you will see that your pain has gone. If the pain comes again, try repeating the same and bear the pain. Normally, the pain would go and would not come back, but if it is coming back frequently at the same place, it is always better to go for expert advice, because a stitch in time saves nine. But again do not use pain killers in the first place and out of habit.

So, instead of asking ourselves, should we take painkillers? We should ask ourselves Are painkillers necessary? And people also generally ask, how often should I take painkillers? How many painkillers can you take safely? Is it ok to take painkillers every day? The answer to all the above questions is you should not take pain killers out of habit but only under acute conditions and only after you have exhausted all other options including Yoga and Naturopathy.

The natural alternative to painkiller is Turmeric, taken a quarter of spoon with lukewarm water 45 minutes before sleeping. This water will also flush out toxins from your body.

Though painkillers have to be avoided at any cost, if at all it has to be taken, it has to be taken under a piece of professional medical advice, and not taken randomly over the counter(OTC)
